TUESDAY, DEC. 6

6:37 p.m. A man reported the theft of multiple bottles of methadone pills from his home in the 6000 block of County Road 24. The deputy who responded to the call found that the man had made multiple calls in the last three years regarding items being stolen from his apartment, and noted some suspicious details in his story, which he changed while talking to law enforcement. The deputy planned to forward his findings to the district attorney.

WEDNESDAY, DEC. 7

9:39 a.m. A man was arrested on a warrant at Montezuma County Court, 601 N. Mildred Road.

Tuesday, Dec. 6

11:27 p.m.: Deputies responded to a call about a man who allegedly threatened his wife and daughter at a residence in the 38600 block of County Road H. The woman and daughter left the home, and after the man refused for two hours to come outside, the deputies decided to leave and return in the morning.

Wednesday, Dec. 7

2:30 p.m.: A deputy impounded two emaciated dogs in the 21900 block of County Road B.7, cited a woman with cruelty to animals and took the dogs to the Cortez Animal Shelter. The deputy planned to request restitution for expenses relating to the dogs’ care.

Friday, Dec. 9

10:35 a.m.: A man was arrested on a warrant at the alternative sentencing unit of the Montezuma County jail, 730 E. Driscoll St.

11:42 a.m.: A Cortez man reported that he had been the victim of fraud. He said he received a call from a man who identified himself as a technician who would remove viruses remotely from his computer. The caller accessed the victim’s banking account to give him a refund, but added too much to the victim’s account. The caller then told the victim that he needed to wire him the extra refund or he’d shut down his computer. After the computer shut down remotely, the victim wired the caller $500. Realizing that he’d been scammed, the victim then froze his banking account.

3:45 p.m.: A man was cited for driving 101 mph in a 65 mph zone at mile post 20 on U.S. Highway 160.

Sunday, Dec. 11

1:47 a.m.: A juvenile was apprehended in La Plata County after he allegedly stole a pickup truck and a cell phone from his grandfather in Cortez while his father was out of town.
