8:13 a.m. The front glass window was broken, and a cabinet door removed, at Lone Heron Antiques, 202 Fourth St., in Dolores. It appeared that whoever broke the window likely didn’t enter the shop. There was no suspect, and the deputy recommended the store install cameras.
9:13 a.m. A resident at 311 Central Ave. in Dolores said that a man whom she dated a decade ago has been calling her names as he drives by, and that she suspected that he vandalized her property by dumping his compost on it. She then dumped the compost on his property. A deputy found a white substance he referred to as “rancid feces” from an animal. Attempts to talk to the ex-boyfriend were unsuccessful, and the woman could now face vandalism charges.
4:42 p.m. A tip revealed that a former Montezuma County Detention Center deputy with a warrant for his arrest was at City Market, 508 E. Main St. The deputy was found in an aisle on an electric scooter and was arrested for alleged first-degree assault with a weapon, failing to display proof of insurance, driving under restraint and having an unsafe vehicle.
2:56 p.m. Deputies responded to a report of a woman reportedly hitting her boyfriend in the face and breaking things with an ax and throwing them in the yard at 1123 Central Ave. in Dolores. There, they saw a computer monitor, keyboards, an Xbox and controllers broken, and her boyfriend had a “bright red patch” on his face. The woman was arrested on suspicion of criminal mischief, harassment and domestic violence. The couple had been dating for 11 months.
3:21 p.m. A man with a theft charge and a subsequent warrant turned himself in and was arrested at the Sheriff’s Office, 730 E. Driscoll St.
9:22 a.m. A woman who appeared to be staggering in the southbound lane of the 7000 block of U.S. Highway 491 was arrested for obstructing a highway and violating two protection orders prohibiting her from being under the influence of alcohol. She also faces a charge of obstructing a peace officer, allegedly for trying to kick him.
6:32 a.m. Three feet of power pole and 13 mailboxes were damaged in a hit-and-run in the 6500 block of U.S. Highway 160. Because of the extent of the damage, the reporting deputy said a semitrailer might have hit it. The investigation is active.
11:43 a.m. A man found a gray Motorola cellphone in the 27000 block of Colorado 184 but was unable to identify its owner, so he gave it to a deputy, who entered the phone into evidence for “safekeeping.”
9:27 a.m. A man with an arrest warrant for failing to appear in court was arrested at the Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., and taken to the Montezuma County Detention Center.
2:55 p.m. A woman with a warrant for failing to appear in court was arrested at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., and taken to the Montezuma County Detention Center.
4:43 p.m. A deputy responded to a reported assault at 6768 Road 24.3. There, a man said he had been hit by another man wearing brass knuckles, but his injuries weren’t consistent with that, and his story changed several times, so the assault investigation was dropped. The deputy did, however, search the name of the alleged assaulter and found he had a warrant from La Plata County for driving after revocation and not wearing a seat belt. The man was arrested after a third party told the deputy where to find him.
9:21 p.m. A man was arrested on a warrant from Mancos after he was stopped on suspicion of rolling through a stop and driving without a license plate or temporary tag in the 7000 block of Road 24.2.
11:12 a.m. A deputy sought a warrant for an alleged violation of a protection order after the suspect made eight phone calls from the Montezuma County Detention Center to the victim.
8:26 a.m. A woman recognized two males from a Facebook post that alerted the public to be on the lookout for them at 501 Railroad Ave. in Dolores, the Speedway. The men were arrested there. One had two syringes on him, a knife and a lighter. He was suspected of burglary, theft, trespass, drug paraphernalia and obstructing a peace officer. The other had warrants through Cortez dispatch.
11:28 a.m. A man living at 15755 Road 31 said that his wife of 68 days stole $720,000 from him, and that she had lived in Texas for the duration of their marriage. He’s since gotten an annulment and has gotten most of the money back, but she still owes him $196,000. He requested a report be made for the legal process, as he’s pressing charges in Texas.
4:23 p.m. A woman found a firearm in a drain pipe at 28541 U.S. Highway 160, an unoccupied property. She initially stopped when she saw a car parked out front, and noticed an unidentified woman on the private property who said she was looking for a wallet. The other woman told her to leave, and proceeded to find the gun. It’s unknown if the unidentified woman knew of the gun or has a connection to it.
9:22 a.m. A man with an arrest warrant from La Plata County was arrested for DUI and driving with a restrained license at 730 E. Driscoll St., the Montezuma County Jail.
9:40 p.m. A deputy investigating a report of trespassing arrested a man with seven warrants. The arrested person was in the passenger seat of a vehicle, attempting to shield his face when the deputy arrived at 7006 U.S. Highway 160.
11:41 a.m. A man was arrested at 9697 Road G on suspicion of violating a protection order and allegedly threatening to kill his ex-wife, her family and then himself. She called the police and said he can sometimes be suicidal and homicidal when intoxicated; he denied ever saying such things.
4:41 p.m. A deputy helped a Colorado State Patrol officer search a vehicle at 4285 U.S. Highway 160 and found three open Budweiser bottles and a mostly empty bottle of alcohol under the passenger seat, along with another empty beer bottle. The driver was taken into custody.
