Sunday, July 14

3:10 a.m. A deputy was dispatched to a disturbance in the 6100 block of U.S. Highway 160. Several women had gathered for a women’s night at a house, and a man joined the gathering. A fight erupted among all the parties, who all appeared to have been drinking. A deputy obtained several smartphone videos showing the various parts of the altercation. One woman appeared to have suffered a slight injury on her chin and was bleeding. A car suffered an estimated $6,000 in damages. Deputies interviewed several people, but the man at the party had fled, and efforts to contact him were unsuccessful. A deputy was attempting to get an arrest warrant issued for the man under suspicion of criminal mischief.

Monday, July 15

2:58 p.m. A deputy was called to a traffic crash in the 23200 block of U.S. Highway 491 in which a vehicle struck a power pole. The driver of a semitrailer said she was making a delivery when she hit the power line, which was sagging. An employee from Empire Electric was on scene. The Empire Electric employee said the power line and a meter box needed to repairs. No citations were issued.

10 a.m. A deputy was called to an active break-in in the 200 block of North 15th Street. Two people in a house advised the deputy they were in the process of purchasing a property, and when they arrived at the house, someone who had been evicted from it was inside with another person. They fled the house when they discovered law officers were en route. The fleeing couple was later located, and the woman was arrested on suspicion of criminal trespass, and the man was arrested for violating a protection order and violating conditions of felony bond.

Tuesday, July 16

2:34 p.m. A deputy was called to the 37500 block of Colorado Highway 184 about a report of a stolen vehicle. The deputy located a white Ford F-350 pickup that was listed as stolen out of Cortez. The report was forwarded to the Cortez Police Department.

7:14 p.m. A deputy was in the 7000 block of County Road 25 when he encountered two men on foot. One man had a warrant out for his arrest. He was arrested and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

Wednesday, July 17

9:17 a.m. A deputy was dispatched to Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 Driscoll St., to issue six active warrants to a female inmate.

10:19 a.m. A deputy was on patrol in the 24400 block of County Road G.1 when he recognized a man with three active warrants. The man was arrested and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

12:36 p.m. A deputy was dispatched to Montezuma County Combined Courts to issue an active warrant to a man. The man was arrested and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

1:18 p.m. A deputy was called to the 25500 block of County Road T.5 about concerning a violation of a protection order. A woman showed the deputy numerous text messages and logs of phone calls received from her boyfriend, who has a restraining order barring him from contacting her. A warrant was issued for the man’s arrest.

2:57 p.m. A deputy was called to the 700 block of South Broadway about a suspected drunken driver. A suspect was contacted. He had red, glassy eyes and slurred his speech when talking to the deputy. The man was eventually arrested for driving under the influence by a trooper with the Colorado State Patrol.

4:03 p.m. A deputy was called about a theft report at a construction site in the 29900 block of Colorado Highway 184. The owner of a construction company said a homemade orange trailer had been stolen from a construction site. The owner of the construction company last observed the trailer on Tuesday, July 16. The trailer was entered into a stolen property database.

6:03 p.m. A deputy was dispatched to Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., to issue an active warrant to a female inmate.

6:11 p.m. A deputy was dispatched to issue three active warrants to a female inmate at the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

6:18 p.m. A deputy was dispatched to issue an active warrant to a male inmate at the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

Thursday, July 18

8:34 a.m. A deputy was contacted by telephone by a woman in the 18700 block of Colorado Highway 145 who wanted what she believed to be an item containing an illegal drug removed from her property. The deputy removed what was believed to be a small amount of marijuana in a KFC container.

10:59 p.m. A deputy was patrolling in the 19000 block of U.S. Highway 491 when he observed a Dodge pickup truck with a white older model camper that had no illuminated rear lights, no license plate and was dragging a chain on asphalt that was creating sparks. The driver advised the woman driving the pickup it was unsafe to drive on public roads. The woman parked the camper and pickup in a parking lot until she corrected the deficiencies. In addition, a male passenger in the truck had an outstanding warrant, and he was arrested and left in custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center.

Friday, July 19

11:46 a.m. A deputy was called to the 600 block of North Park Street to serve as a civil standby. The deputy recognized one of the subjects as having an active warrant. The man was arrested and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

2:41 p.m. A deputy was called about a harassment complaint in the 200 block of Ninth Street in Dolores. A deputy took a report about a series of altercations between the neighbors. He filed a report, but took no action against either of the parties.

Saturday, July 20

4:16 p.m. A deputy was called to a non-injury accident in the 10500 block of U. S. Highway 491. The deputy took a report about an incident in which a driver hit another vehicle while backing out of parking space. The drivers exchanged contact and insurance information.

Monday, July 22

9:44 a.m. A deputy served active warrants to one man and one woman who were inmates at the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.
