11:45 a.m. A deputy was called to Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 North Park St., on a remand. The deputy transported a woman to Montezuma County Detention Center.

Thursday, May 16

2:42 p.m. A deputy served an active warrant to a man at Montezuma Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St. The man was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

Friday, May 17

2:31 p.m. A deputy was called to assist a Cortez Police Department officer about a stolen vehicle that might have been related to a homicide in La Plata County. Two subjects in the vehicle were detained and placed in the custody of the Bureau of Indian Affairs. La Plata County Sheriff’s Office was notified about the discovery of the vehicle, and it was towed to an impound yard in La Plata County.

Monday, May 20

10:16 a.m. A deputy served an active warrant to an inmate in the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

10:37 a.m. A deputy served a warrant for failure to appear to a woman in the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

Tuesday, May 21

10:14 a.m. A deputy was called about a dog at large in the 400 block of Central Avenue in Dolores. A woman was frantic after an encounter with a large pit bull-Labrador cross. The deputy determined the woman had not been attacked by the dog, but she stated that she was terrified of dogs because of a previous encounter. The woman had been slightly injured in a fall. The deputy issued the dog’s owner a violation for not having the dog under control after he determined the dog was current on its vaccinations. He also told the owner she must register the dog with the city of Dolores.

5:33 p.m. A deputy served an outstanding warrant to an inmate in the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

5:34 p.m. A deputy served an outstanding warrant to an inmate in the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

Wednesday, May 22

7:50 p.m. A deputy contacted a man in the 1700 block of east Seventh Street about a possible assault. Deputies attempted to question the man, but he fled on foot. Deputies thought he might have fled to an abandoned mobile home, but a search of the mobile home did not locate the suspect. The man had fled to a nearby shack. Deputies called the Cortez Police Department for assistance from its K-9 unit. The man surrendered after the K-9 unit arrived. The man was arrested for two outstanding warrants and was left in custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center.

Friday, May 24

2:39 p.m. A deputy was called to the 6800 block of County Road 24.2 about a stolen vehicle out of Montana. The owner of the vehicle was contacted by a law enforcement agency in Montana, and the vehicle was towed to a yard to await pickup by the owner.

Monday, May 27

5:36 p.m. A deputy issued a warrant for failure to appear to a man in the 19800 block of Road U.6. The man was left in the custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center.

6:26 p.m. A deputy served a warrant for criminal mischief to an inmate at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.
