Thursday, Oct. 3

2:53 p.m. An officer cited a man with possessing an open container and alcohol in the park at the Cortez Public Library, 202 N. Park St.

5:40 p.m. An officer served two warrants to a man who was transferred into the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

8:08 p.m. A man was arrested on suspicion of felony vehicular eluding, aggravated driving while HTO, failed to present proof of insurance, reckless endangerment, reckless driving, speeding over 40 mph over the limit, passing on left when prohibited, failing to yield at a right of way stop sign, and displaying expired license plates in the 7000 block of County Road 25. The officer’s report states that the man eluded him in a reckless manner while driving on a revoked habitual traffic offender driver’s license in an unregistered vehicle and then committed another act of aggravated HTO by driving in a reckless manner, with a passenger, drove 44 mph over the 30 mph zone, passing a vehicle on the left in a no-passing zone and disregarding multiple stop signs.

Friday, Oct. 4

3:44 a.m. An officer arrested a woman on suspicion of DUI, no insurance, no driver’s license, and a stop sign infraction at the intersection of Road H and Road 25.

10:46 a.m. An officer arrested a man on a felony warrant at the Oak Meadows Trailer Park, 405 W. Seventh St.

12:24 p.m. An officer served two warrants to a man in the custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

2:59 p.m. An officer arrested a man on suspicion of disturbing the peace at the Southwest Memorial Hospital, 1311 N. Mildred Road.

3:57 p.m. An officer arrested a woman on suspicion of violating a protection order that states she shall not possess or consume alcohol or controlled substances at the Oak Meadows Trailer Park, 405 W. Seventh St.

9:47 p.m. An officer arrested a man on suspicion of DUI, driving with blood alcohol over 0.08 and failing to drive in a single lane in the 10 block of South Chestnut St.

Saturday, Oct. 5

Noon An officer arrested a man on suspicion of violating a protection order that states he shall not possess or consume alcohol at 621 N. Elm St.

12:32 p.m. An officer arrested a man on a warrant at the Cortez Public Library, 202 N. Park St.

Sunday, Oct. 6

8:59 a.m. An officer arrested a man on a warrant after being flagged down by an employee at McDonald’s, 1322 E. Main St. The restaurant employees requested that the man be trespassed from the property.

9:18 p.m. An officer cited a man with trespassing and littering at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St.

Monday, Oct. 7

12:49 a.m. Officers arrested a man on suspicion of second-degree arson and two counts of criminal mischief after a report of a vehicle on fire at the Southwest Medical Administrative Building, 1311 N. Mildred Road.

Tuesday, Oct. 8

1:20 a.m. An officer arrested a man on a warrant at the intersection of Fourth Street and Maple Street.

2:26 a.m. An officer arrested a woman on a warrant in the 10 block of South Beech Street. The officers report states that the woman was stopped for driving 16 mph over the speed limit and when he made his driver-side contact there was nobody sitting in the driver’s seat and the passenger said ‘his girlfriend was “tripping” and she was hiding in the back of the SUV. She had the doors locked and refused to cooperate, saying she was going to turn herself in Monday and asked to be let go. The officer states he reached in the passenger door rolled down the window, unlocked the vehicle and told her to get out.

2:17 p.m. Officers arrested a man on suspicion of felony first-degree criminal trespass, harassment, domestic violence, resisting arrest, and third-degree assault at 2611 E. Empire. The man reportedly climbed two stories into a window of the residence, threatened the mother of his child with a knife, and ran from investigating officers, one of whom suffered injuries while tackling the man. The officers report states during the investigation it was discovered the man was prohibited by a restraining order to possess or purchase weapons of any kind and that he requested the district attorney include a violation charge for possessing a knife and using it to threaten officers and the reporting parties.

2:44 p.m. An officer cited a man with shoplifting and trespassing at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St.

4:17 p.m. An officer served and arrested a man on a warrant who was remanded by the Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St.

4:42 p.m. An officer arrested a man on suspicion of harassment, domestic violence, DUI, reckless driving, and disregarded/failed to stop as required at a stop sign at the Maverick Country Store, 650 E. Second St.

Wednesday, Oct. 9

1:48 p.m. An officer cited a man with trespassing at Love on a Hanger, 34 E. Main St. The officer also issued never expiring trespass notices to a man and woman who were interacting with the already trespassed man.
