Tuesday, July 9

9:53 a.m. An officer was called to the 1600 block of North Dolores Street about a deer and SUV collided.

11:39 a.m. An officer served an outstanding warrant to a male inmate in the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

12:35 p.m. An officer was on foot patrol in City Park, 802 East Main St., when he detected the odor of alcoholic beverages coming from a group sitting in the picnic area. A man was discovered with an open bottle of Taaka Vodka. The man gave several false names before his proper name was determined. The man had an outstanding warrant, and he was arrested on the open warrant and issued a summons for possession of alcohol in the park and possession of an open container. A breath analysis test that showed a blood-alcohol level of 0.247. He was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

1:04 p.m. An officer was called to City Park, 802 East Main St., about a urinating man. The suspect was arrested on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear and was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

3:01 p.m. An officer was called to the 1100 block of South Chestnut Street. The officer issued a woman a warrant for failure to comply. She was arrested and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

3:44 p.m. An officer was called to the 400 block of South Valley Road about a minor car crash. A man was issued a summons for unsafe backing. Both vehicles were insured.

Wednesday, July 10

11:54 a.m. An officer was called to the 1000 block of South Chestnut Street about a vandalism complaint. A house on the block was tagged with letters “RKS,” like similar graffiti in town. Later that day, another officer noted 23 mailboxes in the Chestnut Court Trailer Park, 1020 S. Chestnut, were tagged in a similar manner. The same graffiti also appeared in the Cortez Park Apartments, 23 W. Seventh St. Police had no suspects or leads that would help identify the culprits.

2:05 p.m. An officer was called to the duck pond, 515 N. Mildred Road, about a woman seen there who was suspected of having an outstanding warrant. The woman was identified and arrested but was not handcuffed because of her high level of intoxication. She was assisted into the patrol vehicle, and at the Montezuma County Detention Center, she was issued a breath analysis test that showed she had a blood-alcohol content of 0.400. She was left in custody of jail staff.

3:20 p.m. A detective was contacted about a suspicious man in the Arby’s parking lot who had parked his Volkswagen Jetta after coming from an area to be known as a drug-trafficking site. The man did not have a driver’s license or proof of insurance. The vehicle’s license plates came back for a white pickup known to be the vehicle of a drug user. Registration for the vehicle was obtained, but it had been suspended. The man was issued a summons for fictitious license plates, driving without a valid license and operating an uninsured vehicle. The vehicle was towed to an impound lot.

5:59 p.m. An officer was called to the City Pool parking lot about a group of people yelling profanities. It appeared to be a prelude to a fight. The group was located behind the restrooms in City Park, 802 E. Main St. Two woman disagreed about the details of a fight. While the officer was interviewing the women, a man approached and challenged the officers. The man, who had an active warrant for his arrest, was arrested and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

6:36 p.m. An officer was called to the 400 block of Linden Street, where two women were arguing over custody of children. The officer did not have enough evidence to charge anyone.

Thursday, July 11

8:16 a.m. An officer was called to McDonald’s, 1322 E. Main St., about a car crash in the parking lot. A Colorado Department of Transportation pickup truck had backed into a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. The motorcycle had a broken tail light. The officer filed a report.

9:33 a.m. An officer was called to the 600 block of North Elm St. by a woman who said she was receiving phone calls and text messages from her husband, who was under a protection order stating he should not contact her. The woman provided text messages to the office. The man was later located, arrested and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

Friday, July 12

4:33 p.m. An officer was dispatched to City Park about a woman who was getting beat up by a group of people. A woman was lying on the ground, and several people were walking away from her. Three of the women claimed the woman on the ground tried to provoke a fight the whole day. Eventually a fight did break out. The officer could smell alcohol on the breath of all the women. Two women were issued summons for disorderly conduct. Two other women were arrested for violating protection orders. The two women arrested were left in custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center.

10:19 p.m. An officer was called to the 200 block of West Second Street about a disturbance. The officer arrested a woman on an active warrant. She was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

Saturday, July 13

6:41 p.m. An officer was called to City Park, 802 E. Main St., about an intoxicated man disturbing a birthday party. A man was discovered drinking from a bottle of Taaka Vodka. The man had an active warrant and was arrested. At Montezuma County Detention Center the man was issued breath-analysis test that showed his blood-alcohol level to be 0.400. The man was also issued a summons for possession of alcohol in the park and open container. He was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

10:17 p.m. An officer was dispatched to the 200 block of West Second Street about a disturbance. A woman was arrested on an active warrant. The woman was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

11:35 p.m. An officer was patrolling in the 2200 block of East Main Street when he observed a Dodge pickup that appeared to be speeding. The driver was given a verbal warning for speeding. A male passenger in the pickup was arrested on an active warrant and was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

Monday, July 15

7:11 p.m. An officer was called to Montezuma County Detention Center about a man who was surrendering on active warrant. The man was arrested and left in custody of the jail.

Tuesday, July 16

5:44 p.m. An officer was called to the 800 block of Chestnut Street about two intoxicated men who were causing a disturbance. Two intoxicated men with dried blood on their faces were located sleeping in an apartment. One of the men said it was “just a mutual fight between brothers, and it was nothing to worry about.” One of the men was arrested on an outstanding warrant and was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

12 p.m. A detective was called to the 600 block of Baker Avenue and began an investigation of a case of suspected child pornography video. The video appeared to contain footage of a naked girl between 4 and 7 years old. The detective began working with the Colorado Springs Police Department based on a cyber-tipline report.

Tuesday, July 16

12:51 p.m. An officer served an active felony warrant to a woman at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St. The woman was left in custody of Montezuma County Jail.

2:27 p.m. An officer filed a report after a driver making a left turn hit a vehicle’s passenger side in the 400 block of North Broadway.

4:08 p.m. An officer on patrol in the 400 block of East Fourth Street recognized a woman with an active warrant. The woman was arrested for violating a protection order banning the consumption of alcohol. The woman was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.
