Tuesday, Jan. 28

8:09 a.m. An officer on patrol in the 1700 block of East Seventh Street stopped a Dodge pickup truck for speeding. The driver was issued a summons for speeding. One of two passengers, a man, was arrested on a warrant and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

2:06 p.m. An officer was dispatched to the 400 block of West Seventh Street about a report of a stolen vehicle. The vehicle was located traveling west between Dove Creek and the Utah line. The Utah Highway Patrol later found the vehicle out of gas 10 miles south of Moab. It was towed to a holding yard, and three men were arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle and open containers and left in custody of the San Juan County jail in Utah.

2:34 p.m. An officer arrested a woman on a warrant at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 North Park St., and left her in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

6:31 p.m. An officer dispatched to the 1000 block of South Broadway took a report about a vehicle-deer collision.

Wednesday, Jan. 29

9:42 a.m. An officer issued a warrant to a man at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 North Park St., and left him in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

10:01 a.m. An officer dispatched to Weather King, 920 S. Broadway, took a report about two sheds that had been spray-painted with graffiti.

6:24 p.m. An officer patrolling in the 700 block of South Broadway stopped a Toyota truck with a burned-out headlamp. The driver was arrested on a warrant and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

Thursday, Jan. 30

10:39 a.m. An officer patrolling in the 600 block of South Broadway stopped the driver of a Saab that did not have a front license plate. The driver was arrested on a warrant and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

1:22 p.m. An officer issued a warrant to a woman at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., and left her in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

2:49 p.m. An officer dispatched to the 1300 block of Melrose Street arrested a man for violating a protection order banning him from consuming alcohol. He was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

4:41 p.m. An officer was dispatched to Walmart about a report of a shoplifting. A suspect was identified on a surveillance video tape paying for only one of four frozen Amy’s frozen dinners. Another video showed the man with a woman paying for only one of two purses at the self-pay station. The man was issued a summons for suspicion of shoplifting.

Friday, Jan. 31

7:34 a.m. An officer was dispatched to the Main and Harrison streets about a two-vehicle crash with minor damage. Because of conflicting stories, no summons was issued.

5:01 p.m. An officer dispatched to the 200 block of East Fourth Street about a report of a woman who was pulling her pants down and urinating in the road. Other witnesses reported the woman was naked. The woman was with a man, and they were yelling at passing cars. Both were arrested for suspicion of trespassing and disturbing the peace. The man also was arrested for resisting arrest. Both suspects were left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

11:55 p.m. An officer patrolling in the 800 block of East Second Street stopped a Ford Escape for failing to use a required turn signal. The female driver failed several roadside sobriety tests. She was issued a summons for driving under the influence, failing to use signals and driving on a revoked license.

Saturday, Feb. 1

9:39 a.m. An officer was dispatched to Travelodge, 1120 E. Main St., about a 911 hang-up call. Two men were spotted in front of the motel. One reported injured ribs and accused the other of assaulting him. One of them was arrested for second-degree assault, domestic violence and violation of a protection order.

1:12 p.m. An officer was dispatched to City Market, 508 E. Main St., about a report of a shoplifting. An intoxicated man was arrested for violating a trespass order. After being medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital, he was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

7:36 p.m. An officer was dispatched to City Market, 508 E. Main St., about a report of trespasser. A man was issued a summons for violating trespass notice banning him from the store.

9:14 p.m. An officer was on patrol at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St., when he noticed an intoxicated woman whom he recognized as being banned from the store. The woman was arrested for violating the trespass notice and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

Sunday, Feb. 2

2:37 a.m. An officer was on patrol near the Cortez post office, 35 S. Beech St., when he encountered a man sleeping in the lobby. The man was issued a summons for violating a trespass notice banning him from the post office.

7:17 p.m. An officer was dispatched to Cork ’N’ Bottle, 443 E. Main St., about a shoplifting. Two men came into the store and worked in tandem in an attempt to shoplift a bottle of vodka, according to store employee. Two suspects were located. One was issued a summons for shoplifting. The other suspect had an active warrant, and he was arrested and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

Monday, Feb. 3

10:40 a.m. An officer was dispatched to the Auto Zone parking lot, 1222 E. Main St., to assist another officer with a warrant arrest. The suspect was released after it was determined the warrant was for another man with the same name but a different birth date.

Tuesday, Feb. 4

1:23 a.m. An officer was dispatched to Speedway, about a report of an intoxicated female driver. The suspected woman was stopped in the 1600 block of East Main Street. After failing several roadside sobriety tests, she was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center. She was also issued summons for driving without proof of insurance, driving without a valid license, an open container of alcohol and making a right turn from an improper lane. She was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

1:42 p.m. An officer was dispatched to the Cortez Police Department, 608 N. Park St., to arrest a woman on an active warrant. She was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.

4:15 p.m. An officer patrolling in the 1800 block of East Main Street when he recognized a man walking eastbound who had an active warrant for his arrest. The man was arrested and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.
