At his Wednesday hearing, Zamir Young received a court date for his probation revocation and pretrial conference in the 22nd Judicial District.
During the hearing, Young was advised of his new charges, which include violation of a protection order in one case and the motion to revoke probation in the other. His hearing for these cases will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 17.
According to information obtained by The Journal, Young’s most recent arrest occurred on Oct. 31. An anonymous caller brought police to an address on South Madison Street, where Young was attempting to hide in a bedroom closet.
Before coming out of the bedroom, Young reportedly asked officer Brady Veach if he could use the restroom, to which Veach said no. Veach noted that he was wary of Young being in the room for too long, as he did not know if there were any weapons.
Veach also shared that Young is an “amateur boxer” and he didn’t want to be in an enclosed space where a physical altercation could take place. Upon Young leaving the room, Veach observed that a machete was sitting on the toilet in the bathroom.
He was later released on Nov. 1.
On Aug. 28, Montezuma County Sheriff deputy Steven Smith had requested a warrant for Young’s arrest, saying that Young had not registered as a sex offender like he was reportedly ordered to do.
In November of last year, Young was arrested for violating a protection order, resisting arrest, DUI, operating an uninsured vehicle on a public roadway, failing to notify police of an accident, careless driving, eluding or attempting to elude police, driving a vehicle when license denied and an open alcohol container.
