Youth Leadership Council thanks supporters for backpack project

We are Youth Leadership Council, which is a program of SCYC, a nonprofit organization that helps engage youth in our community.

This summer, YLC filled backpacks to supply our local homeless youth peers in our community with basic necessities of living such as shampoo, toothbrushes, etc. There were 56 bags assembled. Ten were donated from Osprey Packs, and the other 46 were Teen Maze Bags from previous years donated by SCYC. Forty bags were donated to the Recovery Center, Piñon Project, Renew and the Four Corners Child Advocacy Center. Ten bags to each organization. Sixteen bags were given to the Towoac Youth Homeless Shelter.

This project generated a total of $2,400 in donations, and we would like to thank our community for supporting our youths.

The Youth Leadership Counsel would like to thank everyone who made this project possible: Osprey Packs, Baymont Hotel, Holiday Inn Express, Schafer Orthodontics, Cortez Dental Care, San Juan Coffee, City of Cortez Recreation Center, Plaza Laundry, Wendy’s, The Farm Bistro, Once Upon a Sandwich, Sand Canyon National Inn, Matthew David Black, Hairvolution, Shirley Maez, Super 8 Motel and Cortez Cab.

Sincerely,

The Youth of the Youth Leadership Council
