Yoga studio moves down Main Street

Owner: Change won’t affect operations

The Heart and Core Yoga Studio has a new home – just down the road.

The studio, which previously operated next to The Farm Bistro along Main Street, has moved into space that used to be occupied by Little Bear Trading Post, at 720 E. Main St. The move happened at the beginning of this month, but will not affect business operations, said the studio’s current owner, Sherry Fitzgerald.

“We are looking forward to a bright and expansive future in our new space,” she said.

The yoga studio was established in 2013 by Jill Lawson, Fitzgerald said. She herself took over operations a year ago, after Lawson moved to Hawaii and the person who took over operations backed out.

The decision to move was attributed to affordability considerations, Fitzgerald said. Lawson had somewhat of a following in the community, and with her departure came a decline in students.

“In order to keep the studio moving forward and open, I chose to move the studio to a more affordable space,” Fitzgerald said.

However, all the same classes and programs will be held in the new site, she said.

“There is a great need for yoga, because we do have a population that is growing older,” Fitzgerald said. “We have a lot of retirees coming to our community for retirement purposes. And with the growing age of the body, we need to focus more on opening the joints, on strengthening the balance and improving the strength of the muscles to help stabilize the body in and of itself.”
