Woman in wheelchair strikes vehicle on Main Street

Woman in wheelchair at fault; no citation issued

A woman driving a motorized wheelchair struck a vehicle on Cortez’s Main Street about 1:30 p.m. Friday, according to police.

Cortez Police Patrol Lt. Andy Brock said the woman was traveling east at Washington and Main streets and turned into a vehicle that was passing by.

“She is considered at fault, but no citation was issued,” Brock said.

The woman declined medical transport but went to the hospital later on her own, Brock said.

Traffic was slowed in all eastbound and westbound lanes.

The Cortez Police Department, a Southwest Health System ambulance and the Cortez Fire Protection District responded to the scene.
