A woman is accused of threatening customers at Burger Boy with a knife.

When Cortez police officer Kadan Sharp arrived at Burger Boy on Aug. 23, he met Aaron Lee, Paulina Ketchum, Lorenzo Watchmen and Sterling Hatch, whom he said he knew from previous encounters.

Sharp was told by dispatch that Ketchum was the person with the knife. While questioning the four, he asked if any of them had a knife. Watchmen told Sharp that Ketchum had kept pulling out a knife, which Ketchum denied.

After requesting to look in her bag, Sharp found a blue folding knife at the bottom. Ketchum had tried to get into her bag before handing it to him, and Sharp said he believed Ketchum was trying to hide the knife from him.

While Sharp spoke with Ketchum, officer Jarrod Jewell spoke with the alleged victims, who called the police. They were identified as Riley Otto, Evan Hunt, Tabitha Yates, Kelton Judson and Shaylena Clark-Godfrey.

They told Jewell that Ketchum had been yelling at them and pointing the knife at them, adding that she told them she was going to “get her gun and come back and shoot them.”

“Riley, Evan, Tabitha, Kelton and Shaylena all stated this caused them to fear for their lives and they were scared Paulina was going to hurt them,” Sharp said.

Sharp arrested Ketchum and officer Jacob Bourdon took her to Southwest Memorial Hospital, where they alleged she was under the influence.

Once at the Montezuma County Jail, Ketchum allegedly kicked Det. Buck Woodman in the leg.

Ketchum was placed into the jail and charged with second-degree assault and menacing.
