Winds cause power outage

A real-estate sign that blew into a utility pole caused a power outage Tuesday morning in Dolores.

Power initially went out for 40 customers around 11 a.m., and then all of Dolores' electricity was turned off so crews could repair the damage. Power was restored to all customers at 1:06 p.m.

According to Empire Electric officials, a sign blown by the wind hit a guy wire on a power pole near Joe Rowell Park. The impact shook the live wires causing them to slap together, burning out 30-feet of a conductor. The equipment was repaired, and no other damage was reported.
