In a pair of matchups involving San Juan Basin League teams on a run, both Mancos (9-3, 4-0 SJBL) and Dove Creek (8-1, 2-0 SJBL) extended their winning streaks by toppling M-CHS (7-9, 1-1 Intermountain League) and Dolores (3-7, 2-1 SJBL), respectively.

Mancos rallied from a two-set deficit to edge M-CHS, 18-25, 21-25, 25-23, 25-18, 15-12, extending their winning streak to six matches. The victory also marked the third straight Mancos win in their annual series with their county rivals.

Dove Creek traveled to Dolores and completed their 25-12, 25-12, 25-9 sweep of the Bears to move their winning run to five straight matches. Both of the lengthy streaks will be put on the line when the two remaining unbeaten teams in the San Juan Basin League meet up on Tuesday night in Dove Creek for a match that will go a long way toward deciding the league champion.

M-CHS returns to league play with their annual San Luis Valley trip to see Alamosa and Centauri on Sept. 27 and 28, while Dolores hosts Ignacio on Sept. 24.

Four consecutive wins have the Panthers back above .500 (11-8, 9-2 WSL) and sitting in the pole position for a league title. M-CHS required only six total innings for their doubleheader mercy-rule sweep of the Skiers, and now a win against Delta in their regular season finale against Delta on Oct. 1 would guarantee the Panthers at least a share of the top league spot.
