Weather service warns of dense fog, icy roads

Low visibility, icy conditions expected
Fog surrounds horses along the Animas River in the file photo. The National Weather Service has issued a dense fog advisory in effect until 10 a.m. Saturday.

The National Weather Service in Grand Junction has issued a dense fog advisory until 10 a.m.

Locations include Cortez, Dolores, Dove Creek and Mancos. Visibility is expected to be a quarter-mile or less.

Ice deposited on roadways and sidewalks by freezing fog might making driving hazardous, the weather service said. Because the fog will be patchy, the freezing fog will drop visibilities quickly in a short distance.

“Visibilities may become severely restricted near rivers, lakes, bridges, and low-lying areas,” the weather service said.
