I’m calling out the board of directors for 4-Corners Alliance for Diversity. This is a fantastic group that has a strong history of supporting and serving the LGBT+ community here in the Southwest.
However, as we roll into the 2024 Pride season, I’m disheartened to learn that it has turned its back on the Pagosa Springs Pride efforts. Today, Pagosa Springs is hosting its first-ever pride event. As an LGBT+ candidate for the Colorado Legislature, I have been asked to support and be a part of this inaugural Pride celebration.
I’m honored and humbled by the request, and I applaud the dedicated group of selfless individuals who have taken it upon themselves to stand against the rising tide of hate in our community. Now more than ever, we must stand as a community and make ourselves stronger.
That is precisely why I’m calling out 4-Corners today – it has done the opposite. After originally promising support, the board backtracked on its commitment, and left the people of Pagosa Springs without the vocal and financial backing that this new enterprise so desperately needs.
Now is not the time to be timid and leave the community adrift. Now is the time to step up, join hands and rejoice in our solidarity. I encourage the board of 4-Corners Alliance for diversity to reconsider support and reach out with humble hands to Pagosa Springs, and offer all you can.
We are family!
