‘Voting laws allowed for ways to cheat’

Voting used to be straight forward and simple. We went to our polling places, wrote our signature next to our address in the notebook of registered voters and cast our votes privately in booths. Done. The only mail-in ballots were from military personnel, voters living abroad and those who could not physically be there in person.

Our present voting laws and practices have allowed for so many creative ways to, bluntly put, cheat. Ballot harvesting, voting in several different states or districts and even voting for the deceased are now observed.

And here is the latest. People are changing affiliation so they can vote against a candidate in the primary election. What are they afraid of? Their party candidate might not win against the targeted opposing candidate? What happened to the American tradition of voting for your own party candidates instead of against particular candidates?

I vote for honesty, integrity and fairness. What about you?
