For those undecided about the school board race, let’s look at some facts. The only contested race is between Rhonda Tracy and J.J. Lewis. It’s important that we make a choice that will benefit students and the district. So what are the obvious differences between the candidates?
Lewis has said he was pro-Second Amendment. This is not consistent with photos of him on his motorcycle with a sign saying, “Take Their Guns.” Tracy also said she is pro-Second Amendment.
At a school board meeting, Lewis said he wanted Montezuma-Cortez Superintendent Tom Burris to resign immediately. He has also said the entire board needs to be replaced. Tracy congratulated the teachers and administrators on the recent testing achievements.
Lewis is not retired Navy but retired United States Public Health Service. Tracy is retired Air Force.
Lewis and his son started a Change.org page, demanding the superintendent’s resignation and now says he wants to “improve the relationship” with Burris. Tracy has her own business and works for the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe. She has a disabled sister she cares for and Tracy is a former teacher as well as a positive part of the community.
Vote for a person who has no personal agenda of vendettas as to bring to the board. The board needs to work as a team or it will be a negative for the kids. I’m voting for Rhonda Tracy!
