As a young and concerned voter in this district, I’m writing to express my strong support for Vivian Smotherman running for Senate District 6 in the upcoming election.
We deserve to have a representative who truly understands and advocates for our needs. And unfortunately, Cleave Simpson has consistently voted against the interests of his constituents, and I believe it’s time for a change.
For example, Simpson voted against HB24-1098, which would have required a valid cause for eviction and would have left many tenants vulnerable. He also opposed HB24-1037, a bill that would have expanded harm reduction services for those struggling with substance use disorders – a critical issue in our rural communities.
Additionally, his vote against “HB23-1011 Consumer Right To Repair Agricultural Equipment,” if not passed, could have hurt local farmers and ranchers by making it harder for them to maintain and repair their own equipment, forcing them to rely on expensive, manufacturer-authorized services. Cleave is a fourth-generation farmer and still voted against the interests of farmers.
Vivian Smotherman has a clear vision for our district’s future: She is committed to addressing rural housing issues, improving infrastructure, accessibility in our health care, supporting working families, and advocating and protecting farmers and ranchers.
We deserve a leader who will fight for us, not against us. That’s why I’m voting for Vivian Smotherman, and I urge my neighbors to do the same.
