Veterans Day parade set to start at 1 p.m. Monday

Participants in the annual Montezuma County Veterans Day parade will begin lining up noon Monday at North Elm Street and Montezuma Avenue for a scheduled start at 1 p.m.

Marchers will travel on Montezuma Avenue to North Harrison Street. The parade is sponsored by the Ute Mountain American Legion Post No. 75.

The celebration begins Sunday with a free meal for veterans and their families at 10:25 a.m. at Lighthouse Baptist Church, 11502 Colorado Highway 145. For more information, call 565-9302.

On Monday before the parade, the Cortez Elks Lodge, 2100 Dolores Road, will host a free lunch for veterans from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Participants are asked to present a military identification for the lunch, which is available to others for a fee.
