Ute Mountain tribe hosts solar open house

Community meeting is March 12 at 5 p.m.
A large solar array was recently completed on the Southern Ute Indian Reservation. The neighboring Ute Mountain Ute Tribe plans to begin construction of a solar project near Towaoc this spring.

An open house for the Ute Mountain Community Solar Project will be held on March 12 at the Towaoc Community Center from 5-6 p.m.

There will be a presentation on the Ute Mountain Ute tribe’s $2 million solar project, slated for construction this spring east of Towaoc. The solar energy will be used to lower electricity bills for Ute Mountain Ute families.

Information on how to sign up for lower electric bills will be provided at the meeting. Refreshments will be provided.
