‘Use discretion when you lump 1%’

I take issue with what the letter writer said about the 1% class and Lauren Boebert on Sept. 24. The letter writer said, “I’m superior to you because I am prettier, smarter, whiter, richer, more educated, more saved by Jesus or just more deserving of civil rights, fame and luxurious homeownership than you.”

Well, I am in the 1%. I don’t feel prettier, smarter, whiter, richer, more educated as I only have a high school degree and I am a baptized child of God. There is no such thing as being more “saved.” You either believe that Jesus is the way to be saved or you don’t –there is no level of grace.

I mow my own lawn, split my own wood, clean my own wildlife that I hunt and I teach my grandchildren to do the same.

I suggest you may want to read the Bible daily, work harder daily, respect your fellow man and spend time introspecting on why you feel you are less of a person than the 1%, because you also count. You don’t need monetary fame to feel good about yourself or be saved.

Civil rights. These rights gave you the right to spout off your thoughts. These rights gave Boebert the opportunity to apologize. It is a rare thing in our society to not just keep lying when caught in the act. President Joe Biden keeps lying every day, but I digress.

Please, use discretion when you lump me and others into your opinion of the 1%.
