There have been no arrests in the investigation into the death of Ariana Rosas, 18, who was shot March 23 at the Animas Valley Mall, according to the Farmington Police Department.

The second shooting victim, a male, was taken to the hospital in stable condition. A description of the suspect was not released.

Piedra Vista High School, about a mile from the mall, entered a brief lockdown as a safety measure the morning of the shooting.

The Farmington Police Department released a statement March 30 that they had identified two persons of interest in the shooting. At the time, the two people were being held on unrelated charges.

When asked Monday about the two persons of interest and whether they had been questioned, Gonzales replied that shooting was “still under investigation.”

“We have no further information to release at this time,” she said in an email. “No charges have been filed as of this date.”

In a separate email, Gonzales stated that “Sgt. Albert Boognl was assigned as the lead investigator, but he retired last week, so this case will be reassigned.”

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call (505) 599-1005.
