Two dead, three transported to hospital in four-vehicle crash east of Durango

Westbound traffic rerouted; eastbound route had one lane open

Two people were killed and three people were taken to the hospital in a four-vehicle crash Friday night on U.S. Highway 160 in the Grandview area east of Durango, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

The crash occurred about 5:50 p.m. at the Three Springs subdivision intersection. The crash occurred in the westbound lane of the highway, said Capt. Adrian Driscoll with the Colorado State Patrol. Traffic was being rerouted, and the road was expected to remain closed until about 9 p.m. Eastbound traffic had one lane of traffic open, Driscoll said.

Initial reports said children were among the injured victims, according to scanner traffic.

No further information was immediately available Friday night.
