On Friday evening, Montezuma County Emergency Alerts reported a road closure on Highway 160 from County Road 44 east to the La Plata County line because vehicles were stuck in the roadway.
They advised those driving to avoid the area as the road could possibly be closed for hours. It is unclear whether there was an accident or a backup of vehicles due to road conditions.
Not long later, the alert system updated residents, saying that Highway 160 is now open to through traffic, though they warned drivers to drive carefully as more snow is expected.
Road cameras on Mancos Hill, accessed through Cotrip, showed heavy snow on slick-looking roadways.
This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
