Two pickups collide on snowpacked road north of Dolores

Minor injuries are reported

Four people reported minor injuries at noon Saturday after a Toyota Tacoma and a Chevy pickup collided on Dolores-Norwood Road.

Kim Jones, assistant fire chief with Dolores Fire Protection District, said no one was transported to a hospital, and all injuries were minor.

Colorado State Patrol Trooper Gary Cutler said the drivers were a 26-year-old man and a 31-year-old man. He did not have additional information on the cause of the crash.

The crash occurred at the intersection of County Road W and the Dolores-Norwood Road (Road 31) just north of Dolores at the edge of the San Juan National Forest. The roads were snowpacked and icy.

Colorado State Patrol arrived at the scene about 12:45 p.m.

Earlier Saturday, a rollover on U.S. Highway 160/491 south of Cortez injured one man and briefly shut down the highway about 11 a.m.

Both lanes of the highway were closed for about 30 minutes beginning about 11 a.m., and traffic was backed up for about a mile between Cortez and the crash.

The man, who was not identified, was treated at the scene, placed on a stretcher and taken to Southwest Memorial Hospital about 11:25 a.m.
