Two injured in Cortez stabbing

Police: Incident possibly prompted by vandalism

Two people were injured early Monday morning in a stabbing on the south side of Cortez, according to Police Lt. Andy Brock.

Police responded to the 800 block of South Chestnut Street about 6:40 a.m., Brock said. A male juvenile and adult were transported to Southwest Memorial Hospital with minor injuries, he said.

The incident was still under investigation, and no arrests had been made as of 11:30 a.m. Monday, according to Brock.

The incident might have started with a dispute over property or vandalism, Brock said, but the cause was still being investigated.

Brock said two other people were arrested at the scene – one in connection with a warrant, and another on suspicion of a drug-related offense.
