A 19-year-old Towaoc woman was arrested for DUI after a Montezuma County Sheriff’s deputy reportedly drove off the road to avoid a head-on collision on County Road 25 on Dec. 22.

The deputy took “rapid evasive maneuvers” to avoid a collision with Quentina Blueeyes, who was driving at a high rate of speed southbound in the northbound lane, according the deputy’s incident report. The vehicle was headed for the deputy’s headlights, so he pulled off the road and entered a partial slide off the left shoulder. He then pulled around and stopped the vehicle.

Blueeyes is charged in Montezuma County Court with DUI, driving without a license, reckless driving and open container of alcohol in a vehicle. She posted a $1,000 surety bond on the day of her arrest.

According to the incident report, Blueeyes told the deputy that she did not have a driver’s license and shouldn’t be driving. She could not spell her name properly or answer questions. She blew a 0.218 BrAC on a first attempt and 0.200 BrAC on a second attempt. Two empty vodka shooters and an empty 12-ounce Coors Light can were found in the backseat of the car.

The deputy reported that he believes Blueeyes showed disregard for people and property. This was her first DUI arrest.

Blueeyes is scheduled for an appearance on bond in Montezuma County Court on Jan. 9.
