Competing in Daytona Beach, Fla., on March 7, Eli Tomac sped to his second consecutive podium finish in the 450cc division of the AMA Supercross series.

The Cortez native finished second overall behind Ryan Dungey and currently sits third in the series with 159 points.

After a slow start that placed him in eighth after the race’s first lap, Tomac methodically passed numerous riders in a talented field.

“Last year, I didn’t even make it to the night show (in Daytona),” said Tomac, in a GEICO Motorcycle press release. “This year, we had some good preparation. I stayed the week in Florida with Team Honda and got the bike pretty dialed in.”

Next up for the GEICO-Honda rider will the eleventh-round of the AMA Supercross series, which will take place in Indianapolis on March 14.
