A look at key events in the 4 1/2 years since Bayfield teenager Dylan Redwine was killed.
Nov. 18, 2012: Dylan Redwine arrives in Durango from Colorado Springs after 6th Judicial District Judge David Dickinson issued a court order granting Mark Redwine, Dylan’s father, visitation rights during the Thanksgiving holiday. Dylan sends his mother, Elaine, a text message that says he has arrived. Nov. 19, 2012: According to Dylan’s friends, he was to meet them at 6:30 a.m. in Bayfield. His friends say he did not show up. His friend Ryan Nava texted Dylan to ask where he was and asks him to contact someone to let him know where he is. Ryan’s text’s are in green. Mark Redwine says he left his house to run errands in Durango around 7:30 a.m. This is the last time he saw Dylan. At 6 p.m., Mark Redwine calls police to report Dylan missing. Nov. 22-24, 2012: Two search teams of 30 volunteers each canvass Vallecito Reservoir and Forest Lakes areas, handing out fliers and searching abandoned buildings. That included Dylan’s friends Ryan Nava, 13, left, Fernando Stubbs, 14, center, and Lesley Herring, 15. Two days later, nearly 200 community volunteers and law-enforcement personnel, including a helicopter from the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office, La Plata County Mounted Patrol, La Plata County Search and Rescue teams and two K-9 search and rescue teams, go door to door and search the forest in Vallecito and Bayfield. Nov. 25-27, 2017: A dive team from New Mexico State Police searches the area targeted by cadaver dogs near the dam at Vallecito Reservoir. A day later, three law-enforcement boats equipped with sonar trace patterns search three points on Vallecito Reservoir near the dam that cadaver dogs on Nov. 24 indicated were points of interest. Authorities refocus the search for Dylan. A task force with members from the La Plata County Sheriff’s Office, Durango Police Department, FBI and Colorado Bureau of Investigation makes door-to-door visits in the area. Nov. 27-28, 2012: Friends and family hold a vigil for Dylan, and Mark Redwine makes his first public appearance. Feb. 26-27, 2013: Mark Redwine and Elaine Hatfield Hall appear on “The Dr. Phil Show” for the first time. May 20, 2015: Mark Redwine, Hall and Dylan’s older brother, Cory Redwine, appear on “Dr. Phil “again. March 22, 2016: Hall appears a third time on “Dr. Phil” to provide an update on the case. June 27, 2013: Colorado Bureau of Investigation confirms identification of Dylan’s remains.

June 29, 2015: Elaine Hatfield Hall files wrongful death lawsuit against Mark Redwine. It was later dismissed by District Judge William Herringer because it was after the two-year statute of limitations, which is controlled by the boy’s date of death. Durango Herald file photo
Aug. 19, 2015: La Plata County Sheriff’s Office announces it has identified Mark Redwine as a person of interest in Dylan’s death. It also cleared Elaine Hatfield Hall, brother Cory Redwine and Hall’s husband, Mike Hall, of any involvement in Dylan’s disappearance and death. July 22, 2017: Mark Redwine is arrested in Bellingham, Wash., after a grand jury indictment. He is charged with second-degree murder and child abuse resulting in death. He will be extradited to La Plata County jail after an initial hearing Monday in Whatcom County.
