Three men, including two from Durango, arrested in connection with Bloomfield murder

Victim identified as 51-year-old man

FARMINGTON – Three suspects – including two men from Durango – have been arrested in connection with the death of a Bloomfield man on Thursday, the Bloomfield Police Department announced Friday.

The incident occurred about 9:50 a.m. Thursday when law enforcement received a report of possible shots fired on West Maple Street in Bloomfield. At the time, the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office told people in the area to shelter in place.

The gunshot victim was pronounced dead at the scene and was later identified as 51-year-old Leodis Williams.

On Friday morning, Bloomfield Police Department announced it had three suspects in custody: Mark Aaron Lindsey, a 43-year-old Bloomfield resident; Eric Douglas Crosby, a 33-year-old from Durango; and Michael Iain Greer, a 28-year-old from Durango.

“The Bloomfield Police Department is immensely grateful for the assistance of all who helped. It is very comforting and rejuvenating to know that through all of our recent trials as a country, the American spirit cannot be broke,” Deputy Chief Randon Matthews said in a news release.

Matthews added the suspects were apprehended within hours of the mid-morning murder, with the support of information provided by community members.

All three are being held on suspicion of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder. Crosby and Greer were additionally charged with tampering with evidence.

The police department said the men were caught with the help of the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office, New Mexico State Police, Aztec Police Department, San Juan County Communications Authority, Ignacio Police Department, La Plata County Sheriff’s Office and Durango Police Department.

Bloomfield police said the investigation is ongoing and further information will be released as it becomes available.
