The murder of the local California condor

The California condor is the biggest bird in North America and has been on the endangered species list since 1987 when the bird went extinct in the wild. Currently, there are only 560 or so of them in existence.

The condor can have a wingspan of 10 feet and weigh up to 26 pounds. The bird can fly up to 56 mph and as high as 15,000 feet. The condor is a marvel to say the least. If you where one of the lucky few to see the bird in Southwest Colorado in the last decade, you can agree it was a very special experience. The bird named Nate would migrate to our area from the Grand Canyon. The thought of someone shooting our local condor out northeast of Lewis is just disgusting. Taking this bird from us locals and future generations is a grave crime. We as the public should be coming together to figure out who would do something so low. Please, if anyone has any information about anything they might of heard through the grapevine, come forward to authorities.
