The Bridge Shelter facility on Empire and Park streets is nearing completion, and the focus is now on supplying the finishing touches, such as furniture for apartments, kitchen wares, window furnishings, a large meeting table and many smaller items.

The Bridge Shelter has received support from foundations, businesses, the state of Colorado, faith-based organizations, local governments and individuals.

Some money was in the building budget for furnishings, but the organization would like to raise an additional $15,000 to assist in the acquisition of final needed items.

The Bridge Shelter has launched a final capital campaign that will run from through Aug. 20. Donations may be made online at www.thebridgeshelter.org or by mail at The Bridge, P.O. Box 56, Cortez.

The organization expects to occupy the building by mid-September and to have the first apartments occupied soon thereafter. A public grand opening ceremony and tour of the building is planned for Oct. 19.
