The Burro Fest event will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 17, in downtown Mancos.
The burro race will be run on Mesa Street and will start 10 a.m. Artists’ booths will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Grand Avenue. Featured attractions include a burro photo exhibit, a burro kissing booth, children’s activities, adoptable burros, a beer garden and local band Monkberries.
All events within a two-block area. Attendees looking to find parking are encouraged to arrive early. Guests are invited to bring lawn chairs.
For their safety, dogs will not be allowed.
Donkeys are often kept with sheep herds to ward off coyotes. A dog looks very much like a coyote and a donkey’s natural instinct would be to attack it. Donkeys will bite, or strike with their front hoofs as well as kick with their hinds.
This event is run by the Mancos Creative District’s board of directors.
