Susan Reed brings acrylic paintings to Olio in Mancos

Paintings to remain on display through October

The next artist to be featured at the Olio restaurant in Mancos will be Susan Reed, an acrylic painter from Cortez.

Reed’s paintings have been shown at art galleries across the country since 2006, including at galleries in Mancos, Durango and Telluride. Her work was previously shown at Olio in 2012, according to her website. Her new show will start with an artist reception on Aug. 11 and remain on display through Oct. 6.

Reed’s work often depicts rural landscapes and scenes of farm life in Southwest Colorado.

“In these pieces, I hope to relay my impressions of the farm and ranch landscape, the archaeological richness of the area, and the sociological impact on myself and other women, of a rural versus an urban lifestyle in the 21st century,” her artist statement said.

The artist reception on Aug. 11 will begin at 4 p.m.
