Sunflower Troupe calls for actors to audition for ‘Drinking Habits’

The Sunflower Theatre, 8 E. Main St., will hold auditions for the Sunflower Troupe’s ‘Drinking Habits,“ on Friday, Feb. 4 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 5 and 6 from noon to 2 p.m.

In the hope that the Sunflower Theatre will weather this wave of the coronavirus, the Sunflower Troupe is holding auditions for five female roles and two male roles in “Drinking Habits.”

The play is a lighthearted comedy about two nuns at the Sisters of Perpetual Sewing who have been secretly making wine to keep the convent solvent. A new nun and a duo of undercover investigative reporters upset daily life as all the sisters suspect that Roma has sent spies looking to shut them down.

Auditions will be held at the Sunflower Theatre, 8 E. Main St., in Cortez on Friday, Feb. 4 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 5 and 6 from noon to 2 p.m. No former acting experience is required.

“Drinking Habits” is scheduled to run for two weekends with performances on Friday and Saturday evenings and matinees on Sundays. The performance dates are May 13, 14, and 15 and May 20, 21, and 22.
