Sunflower Theatre plans auditions for holiday play ‘Tiny Miracle’

The Sunflower Troupe plans auditions for a the production of “A Tiny Miracle with a Fiberoptic Unicorn,” by Don Zoldis, in December.

“Set in 1986, the script features anguished young love, family tensions, and add the spice of grandmothers arriving unexpectedly and throwing everything into turmoil.” according to a news release from Heidi Brugger.

The two-act comedy will have parts for five females, ages 13 to about 70, and three males, ages 13 to 50.

Auditions will be held at the theater, 8 E. Main St. in Cortez, on Friday, Sept. 9, from 5-7 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 11, from 1-3 p.m.

Auditions will include a reading, but a video audition is allowed. Auditioners may prepare and read a one-minute comedic monologue and send it to sunflowersteeing@gmail.com before Sept. 12, at 5 p.m., the news release said.

Rehearsals will start on week nights and some weekends in October, to be determined by the director and cast. Performance dates for the play are Friday and Saturday, Dec. 2-3, and Friday, Saturday and Sunday (matinee), Dec. 9-11.
