Students team up to cut back on food waste

Participants in High School Leadership recently worked with Cortez-area farmers and restaurants to decrease food waste in the landfill. The project was designed to reduce the amount of methane, resulting in cleaner air and healthier soils. The development program for sophomores and juniors attempts to provide the students with skills, knowledge, experience and encouragement to make a positive change in their community.

Pictured are, left to right: Tayler Power-Bahr, Kelley Matthews, Courtney Corbitt, Nicole Hess, Victoria Heman, Kamaria Hill, and Clare Vass.
