Chapter EV, PEO, recently awarded scholarships to three local students.
Jennifer Sturman, a recipient of a $1,000 scholarship recipient, graduated from Montezuma-Cortez High School in May and plans to attend honors college at Colorado State University.
The Rose Marie Dickson PEO Scholarship of $1,000 was awarded to Larissa Umberger, who graduated from Dolores High School and will attend Colorado Mesa University.
A $1,600 scholarship given by the Naverne Tripp family in her honor was awarded to Madison Van Bibber. She’s currently a student at Pueblo Community College.
PEO is an international women’s organization with an interest in providing women increased opportunities for higher education.
In addition to local scholarships, the philanthropic and educational organization supports Cottey College, an educational loan fund, international peace scholarship, program for continuing education and advanced study grants.
