Strong winds expected tonight in western Colorado, eastern Utah

Weather service advisory predicts winds of 25-35 mph, gusts of 50 mph

A wind advisory is in effect until noon Tuesday for much of western Colorado and eastern Utah, with gusts reaching 50 mph.

Locations include Cortez, Dove Creek, Dolores and Mancos. They stretch as far north as Dinosaur, Colorado, and as far west as Canyonlands National Park in Utah, the National Weather Service said.

Sustained southwest winds are expected to average 25-35 mph, intensify tonight and continue through Tuesday morning. Tree limbs could be blown down, the weather service said, and travel may be especially difficult for high-profile vehicles.
