Eight businesses were robbed and three vehicles were stolen in Farmington within the past few days, said Nicole Brown, spokeswoman for the Farmington Police Department.

The times and places of the burglaries was not clear from a press release, and Brown was not immediately available Saturday afternoon for clarification.

About 11:28 p.m. Tuesday, police responded to a report of a vehicle stolen from the parking lot of the Fairfield Inn at 2580 E. Main St., the release said.

The stolen vehicle, a silver 2017 Hyundai Sonata, was identified in security camera footage from “several” ransacked businesses that night.

Suspects wearing gray hooded sweatshirts broke windows and glass doors to enter the businesses, according to security footage.

The press release did not specify how many subjects were recorded breaking into the businesses.

About 5:50 a.m., Enterprise Rent-A-Car at 3901 Beckland Drive became the last stop in the repeated burglaries that night, the release said.

The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office later recovered the Hyundai Sonata, the release said.

The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office was closed Saturday when The Journal called for comment.

Two other vehicles in the “string of crimes” remain missing: a 2021 blue Dodge Challenger with New Mexico license plate RJT448, and a maroon Kia Optima with Illinois license plate FP138042.

“The Farmington Police Department asked the public to be alert to any suspicious activity at businesses after hours and report it immediately. Local businesses are encouraged to lock away keys to vehicles and buildings, check that security cameras are working correctly, and ensure contact information is up to date with their respective alarm company,” the release said.

Information regarding the crimes should be directed to Farmington Police dispatch at 505-334-6622.
