The Montezuma-Cortez and Dolores school districts and Dove Creek schools announced that schools and buses would open and run two hours behind schedule Tuesday, Dec. 15.
Mancos schools planned to run on normal schedules.
The winter storm warning expired at 9 a.m. Tuesday for Cortez, Dove Creek, Mancos and Durango, Bayfield and Ignacio.
Snowfall, which totaled about 6 inches in the Cortez area since Monday, is expected to taper off Tuesday morning. Drivers can expect icy and snowpacked roads.
Winds are expected to reach 5-15 mph, with gusts up to 25 mph.

The National Weather Service upgraded its alert to a winter storm warning about 1:45 p.m. Monday. Monday morning, the service had announced a winter storm advisory. A winter storm warning means significant amounts of snow and strong winds are expected.

Northwest San Juan Mountains and San Juan Mountains: The winter storm warning was canceled at 9 p.m. Tuesday in towns including Ouray, Telluride, Lake City, Silverton, Rico and Hesperus. Light snow will continue through Tuesday evening, with little or now additional accumulation.
Paradox Valley-Lower Dolores River: A winter weather advisory expired at noon Tuesday. It had included the town of Nucla. Drivers can expect icy and snowpacked roads.
Grand Valley, Central Gunnison and Uncompahgre River Basin and Arches: A winter weather advisory was canceled Tuesday at 9 a.m. for cities including Grand Junction, Fruita, Palisade, Delta, Hotchkiss, Montrose, Moab and Castle Valley. Drivers can expect icy and snowpacked roads from Green River east.
