I know the comparisons are easy to make, but it’s the wrong format of a government takeover. Things have changed and our leaders have learned a thing or two.
Instead, let’s focus on who the Trump team is really using as a model.
Hungary. The first thing Viktor Orban, did was get rid of nongovernmental organizations (nonprofits). You can’t have any NGOs. All our help must come from Trump. It makes strong men look weak if an NGO can do things, even poorly.
Next comes the media. Lucky for Trump, much of our billionaire news sites and public forums are already working with him. The strategy the administration seems to be cooking up is to catch the mainstream media (MSM) in a sufficient lie.
After the spending freeze, people are likely to believe anything can happen. Then revoking the media’s license to operate. Much like Hungary, we will only get our information from Trump’s friends.
After that will be education. It’s easier to mess with when you control the media. Once things like that are out of the way.
The focus will be on our nation’s people, they must always have an enemy and a scapegoat. The process has been streamlining since the ’30s.
It will be quick with executive orders flying everywhere. Democracies have a major flaw in their ability to act quickly, whereas a dictator can act on a whim. The administration knows that.
Good luck and have fun, people. They like panic, and hate fun.
