Paschal named to state’s first team; Mancos teams receive academic excellence award

After a repeat trip to the state meet, Mancos cross-country runners are racking up the postseason awards.

Ro Paschal and Simon Kearns were both named to the San Juan Basin League’s all-conference team, and Nic Archuleta and Emma Most received honorable mentions.

Paschal was also named to CHSAAnow.com’s Class 2A all-state first team and ColoradoTrackXC’s 2A boys all-state first team.

Kearns was selected to ColoradoTrackXC’s 2A boys all-state second team.

Both Mancos squads also received the Les Schwab Tire Centers Academic Team Championship Award, recognizing their excellence on the course and in the classroom.

The boys team, with a 3.66 cumulative GPA, consisted of Paschal, Kearns, Archuleta, Vincent Grego, Asa Kearns, Caleb Yoder and Jake McKie.

The girls team, including Most, Hannah Skinner, Kaylee Rose, Brittney Peacock, Mimi Archuleta and Jessalyn Bay-Voit, boasted the highest cumulative GPA in the state for Class 2A, with 3.93.
