The clinics of Southwest Medical Group were recently recognized as Antibiotic Stewardship Champions, according to a news release from Southwest Health System spokeswoman Haley Saunders.
Marc Meyer, a pharmacist, received word of the honor from Telligen on July 6.
“On behalf of Telligen QIN-QIO, we would like to highlight the work of our providers who have achieved the goal of implementing all of the CDC Core Elements of Antibiotic Stewardship. We would like to acknowledge your hard work and dedication to this incredibly important measure aimed at improving antibiotic related patient safety and slowing the spread of antibiotic resistance. As such, we have added you to our Antibiotic Stewardship Champion Honor Roll which is displayed on our corporate website” said Andrea J. Campbell, a program specialist for Telligen.
The Telligen Quality Innovation Network-Quality Improvement Organization strives to create better health, better care and better value for people with Medicare in Colorado, Illinois and Iowa.
Meyer recently was recognized as an Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology Hero.
“He has helped the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Quality Forum develop ASM guidance documents has led this effort by instituting a collaborative, education-based guideline-development process,” Saunders said.
