Southwest Community College plans free construction class

A free Construction Skills Training course will run Sept. 18 through Oct. 6 at Southwest Colorado Community College.

The Colorado Opportunity Scholarship Initiative is funding the class, but participants must complete a short registration form before attending, according to a news release from the college.

Participants will receive OSHA 10-hour Construction training, construction math and measurement skills, workplace and communication skills, and an introduction to hand tools, power tools and blueprint reading. Participants may also be certified in CPR and CDOT flagging.

Classes will be offered from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Sept. 18 through Oct. 6 on the Mancos campus of Southwest Colorado Community College, 33057 U.S. Highway 160.

An information session is planned for Sept. 15 at 1 p.m. in Room 101 at Mancos campus.
