A Rico woman faces multiple charges after driving her vehicle off of U.S. Highway 145 on Monday morning, crashing into numerous trees, bushes and eventually, a dirt embankment.
Darcy Engels of Rico is being charged with driving under influence of alcohol or drugs, careless driving, driving without a valid license, and driving without proof of insurance, according to Colorado State Patrol Sgt. James Saunders.
Engels submitted to a blood toxicology test, and results are pending, he said.
After the accident, Engels was transported by EMS crews to Southwest Memorial Hospital for treatment of facial injuries.
No other passengers or vehicles were involved in the crash.
