Sunday, May 20

7:50 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 12000 block of County Road 32, Mancos, on suspicion of harassment, obstruction of phone service and domestic violence after his wife said he assaulted her.

9:12 p.m.: A man was cited on suspicion of burning during a fire ban in the 29000 block of County Road M after a report of an open fire in a dirt pit. He said he thought putting a metal grate over the fire would be enough to meet the ban’s requirements.

Monday, May 21

6:39 a.m.: Deputies responded to a crash in the 17000 block of Colorado Highway 145. The female driver reported she had hit a deer. Deputies killed the injured deer and turned the investigation over to Colorado State Patrol.

11:19 a.m.: A man was served with a warrant for failure to appear at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

1:50 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 22000 block of County Road G on suspicion of DUI and careless driving after driving into a ditch. No injuries were reported.

2:55 p.m.: A man was served with four warrants for failure to appear from Colorado State Patrol and the Cortez Police Department at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

7:07 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of an assault in the 18000 block of Colorado Highway 145, Dolores, the previous day. A woman said another woman hit her in the leg with a child’s toy, causing a bruise. The suspect and her husband said she had not been near the reporting party the previous day. Deputies closed the case due to lack of evidence.

Tuesday, May 22

9:40 a.m.: A man turned himself in at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., and was arrested on a warrant for failure to comply.

1:20 p.m.: Deputies a dog fight in the 28000 block of U.S. Highway 160. A man claimed his dog received broken ribs and puncture wounds in the fight. Deputies were unable to contact the owner of the other dog.

3:46 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of five dead sheep in the 28000 block of County Road M. They were unable to find evidence of intentional harm.

4:58 p.m.: A man was arrested at the Cortez Public Library, 202 N. Park St., on suspicion of violating a protection order after two people reported he had gone to the residence of the protected party. An open bottle of mouthwash and a package of marijuana were found in his backpack.

5:20 p.m.: Deputies investigated a vandalized billboard in the 17000 block of Colorado Highway 145. It remains under investigation.

10:25 p.m.: A woman was arrested in the 100 block of North 20th Street, Dolores, on suspicion of domestic violence after a juvenile reported she was throwing things around the house and hitting a man.

Wednesday, May 23

8:49 a.m.: A man was arrested at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., on a warrant for failure to appear.

1:40 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 12000 block of U.S. Highway 491 on suspicion of violating a protection order after his wife, the protected party, reported he had sent her emails.

3:59 p.m.: Deputies responded to a request for a welfare check in the 24000 block of County Road M. They did not immediately contact the person who lived there. The case remains under investigation.

5:30 p.m.: Deputies assisted the Mancos ambulance in responding to a report of an injured man in the 5900 block of County Road 41. The man’s injuries were determined to be the result of a fall, and he was transported to Southwest Memorial Hospital for treatment.
