5:19 a.m. A man allegedly stole a chain bracelet and flashlight valued at a total of $37 from Love’s Travel Stop, 7006 U.S. Highway 160 in Cortez. He fled the store and allegedly went eastbound on Road G. He has three warrants for his arrest: theft, second-degree burglary and third-degree criminal trespass.
10:41 p.m. A man intervened and stopped a boyfriend who was hitting his girlfriend in the front yard of a home in the 6000 block of Road 23.6. He allegedly struck her about 15 times, and she said he frequently does that when he runs out of fentanyl. He fled the scene and now has a warrant for his arrest. She had a warrant and was arrested and taken to jail. The man who intervened was struck in the head once and was medically cleared.
9:39 a.m. A homeowner in the 14000 block of Road 22 reported that his gate was damaged, and estimated cost of repairs to be $50.
1:26 p.m. A man was arrested and cited for third-degree assault after allegedly punching a woman in the face and shoving her to the ground in the 24000 block of Road L. She said they were working on the car together and she was trying to take the oil pan back when he hit her.
1:41 a.m. A blue Saturn VUE was pulled over at the intersection of W. Seventh Street and Broadway because its front headlight was out. The driver was cited for driving without valid insurance.
2:15 p.m. A man accused his neighbor of stealing parts from his GMC Jimmy and allegedly waved a gun in his face and threatened to kill him in the 16000 block of Road 24. He was arrested and cited for menacing and driving with a revoked license.
2:42 p.m. Two individuals with warrants were arrested at the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.
4:01 p.m. A woman with two warrants was arrested at the Montezuma Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St. and taken to jail.
6:35 p.m. A man allegedly left two large trash bags against a homeowner’s fence in the 100 block of North 21st Street in Dolores and reportedly went walking down Colorado Highway 145. Authorities caught up with him and found syringes and marijuana pipes on him. He said he was trying to get to Rico, and was driven to the Montezuma/Dolores County line.
9:24 a.m. A man with two warrants was arrested at the Montezuma Combined Courts, 865 North Park Street.
10:18 a.m. A Walther PDP 9 mm was found on the bathroom counter in the 10000 block of Road 26 in Cortez.
8:39 p.m. A 22-year-old driving his mom’s car missed his friend’s driveway and ended up in the ditch in the 11000 block of U.S. Highway 491 in Cortez. No alcohol was suspected or found in the car. He was, however, supposed to have an interlock device – a car Breathalyzer – and did not so he was cited for violating that restriction.
8:10 p.m. A woman who had been released from the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., was reported missing. On March 15, an officer learned that she was staying at a hotel on Main Street and was removed from the missing persons list.
