Thursday, Nov. 26

4:21 p.m. A deputy took a report for a suspected theft from a woman in the 17100 block of Colorado Highway 145, Dolores. The woman told the deputy that a week before the passing of her mother her brother came to visit them and after her mother died, she went to the bank to close her mothers account where she discovered the $800 that was in it was gone, account transactions showed ATM withdrawals in the Denver area where her brother lives.

Monday, Dec. 2

3:40 a.m. A deputy took a report for a fatal head-on car crash where a commercial vehicle collided with a passenger SUV. The report states the female driver if the SUV was pronounced deceased in the 27300 block of U.S. Highway 491, Pleasant View. The report did not give details as to how the crash occurred. It stated that the deputy provided traffic assistance to the Colorado State Patrol trooper who was investigating the crash.

Tuesday, Dec. 3

4:48 p.m. A deputy took a report for a car crash at the intersection of County Road 31 and Highway Mile Marker 5, in Dolores. The owner of the 2016 Ford F350 stated his horse trailer pushed the truck during descent causing it to slide down the hill uncontrollably through a guard rail eventually rolling the vehicle once. The report said the truck was upside down when the deputy arrived and the detached trailer with occupying horse and dogs was resting against it.

Thursday, Dec. 5

5:45 p.m. A deputy served a woman and cited her with a never expiring trespass order at 7006 U.S. Highway 160, Cortez. The report states that the woman was attempting to steal a cart used for laundry.

7:46 p.m. A deputy took a report stating he filled out a Colorado DR3447 form for a car crash in the 24800 block of Road K.3, Cortez. The deputy stated he did not cite the man driving the vehicle, a vehicle description or other details were not given regarding the crash.

Monday, Dec. 9

3:04 p.m. A deputy took a report for a theft of a blue four-wheeler from a woman in the 16500 block of Road 30.4, Dolores.

6:43 p.m. A deputy responding to a disturbance call arrested a woman on a felony failure to comply with bond conditions $500 cash only warrant in the 11000 block of Road 20, Cortez.

Tuesday, Dec. 10

4:12 p.m. A deputy served and arrested a woman detained by the courts on a warrant at the Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St. The failure to appear warrant was for speeding, failure to display proof of insurance, and driving under restraint-alcohol.

4:12 p.m. A deputy took a report for a minor car accident that happened in a in the driveway of a home in the 11500 block of Road 25, Cortez. A woman said she backed her vehicle into the front of an unoccupied vehicle that was parked in the driveway of the residence.

8:22 p.m. A deputy took a report for a cold assault against a man and woman who are considered ‘at-risk persons’ in the 28000 block of Highway 160, Cortez. The woman, a caretaker, is over 70 yearsold and the man is wheelchair bound, the report states they were assaulted by the man’s brother who was told he could not have friends at their shared residence. The deputy stated he would seek a warrant for the arrest of the brother on suspicion of two counts of third degree assault and crimes against at-risk persons.

Wednesday, Dec. 11

4:13 p.m. A deputy served two warrants to a man who was transported into the custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St. No information was given about what type of warrants were served to the man.

10:23 p.m. A deputy served a driving under the influence per se warrant to a man turning himself into the custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

Thursday, Dec. 12

3:53 p.m. A deputy took a report for the vandalism of an vehicle at Able Towing, 12661 U.S. Highway 491, Cortez. No description was given of the vehicle, but the mention of a man sitting outside of the business in a gold Nissan Frontier possibly displaying a license plate for a Dodge Charger was referenced. The report mentioned that a man at the business the day prior said the vandalized car was broken into to possibly remove hidden drugs in the vehicle’s steering column, the vehicles passenger window was broken and the steering column was pulled apart.

Saturday, Dec. 14

8:52 a.m. A deputy took a report for an 3-year-old black escapee horse bought at an auction that was lost between Durango and Cortez. The man hired to transport the mare said he pulled over to sleep at a rest stop in the 33000 block of Highway 160 and upon awaking, found the taped shut trailer door was open and the horse was missing. The report ended with the horse being found later in the afternoon behind the rest area by the owner.

6:19 p.m. A deputy took a report for a vehicle accident involving a green Volvo tractor truck and a white Volvo tractor truck at 7006 Highway 160. The report states the owner of the white vehicle did not want to press charges for the damages she received from the other driver backing into her truck.

7:55 p.m. A deputy arrested a man who is transitioning from a male to female on a sexual contact no consent warrant at the intersection of County Road 22.6 and County Road G, Cortez. They were arrested after the deputy performed a routine traffic stop for no license plate light.

9:26 p.m. A deputy took a report of an unfounded suspected protection order violation from a woman in the 24600 block of Road G, Cortez.

Sunday, Dec. 15

5:39 a.m. A deputy took a report for a welfare check and other agency law enforcement assist at 309 N. Broadway, Cortez where the deputy described finding a woman having a panic attack in sitting in the passenger seat that was covered in shards of glass. It is unclear from the deputy’s supplemental report if the woman sustained assault injuries or if the glass shards were from the vehicle’s window.
